My preferred method of calculating A/V is (OG - FG) * 131, or (OG - FG) * 1000 * .131 (so that you can subtract 40 from 50, instead of 1.010 from 1.050). I got the 131 value from Charlie Papazian (The New Complete Joy of Home Brewing), but my edition of that book is eighteen years old. This site: [1] says 129. - Bryan 03:07, February 27, 2010 (UTC)
