The North American Beer Awards is hosted by the North American Brewers Association. The competition is limited to commercially produced beers from active breweries. There are a panel of judges who perform a blind taste test. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded in each category.

The competition is held in conjunction with the Annual Mountain Brewers' Beer Fest.

The awards from 1999-2011 are posted online. The most recent contest was held May 31 through June 3 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

The 2011 competition included:

  • 140 breweries from 33 States with 97 winning medals
  • over 1200 entries
  • 8 countries
  • 198 flights were judged
  • 79 categories
  • 237 medals
  • 6960 bottles of beer
  • Biggest category was American Style IPA 6F with 62 entries
