Grupo Modelo is one of the largest breweries in Mexico. It has 62.7% of the Mexican beer market (as of 2002), and exports beer to the United Kingdom, United States and Canada (via a joint venture with Molson Coors Brewing Company UK Ltd.). Its export brands include Corona, Modelo, and Pacífico. Grupo Modelo also brews brands intended solely for the domestic Mexican market, including Victoria (now available in some southwestern U.S. cities) (a recent advertising campaign for this brand was centered on the fact that it is unavailable abroad); Estrella (a local beer found only in western Mexico); and León and Montejo (originally local to Yucatán but now available nationwide). Grupo Modelo has marketshare of 56% in Mexico. Grupo Modelo has exclusive rights in Mexico for the import and distribution of beer produced by Anheuser-Busch.
Grupo Modelo´s best known beer is Corona, the world's fourth most drank beer since 2001.

Grupo Modelo owns the Extra convenience store chain. Extra boasts 2,100 outlets in Mexico and is a part of the group's vertically integrated model of both producing and selling beer.
The Mexican Soccer Football team, Santos Laguna, is owned by Grupo Modelo and plays its home games at Territorio Santos Modelo stadium, which was constructed in a lapse of two years (nov. 2007 - nov. 2009) with a construction cost of $100 million USD, to replace the old Estadio Corona.
